Surprise

routines
For each coaster I chose two matching blocks.
I draw on the batting (thick flannel) the shape using the block as a pattern
I cut the batting inside the drawing line. It is important to cut it a little bit smaller so it can’t be seen on the edges. I made a sandwich with the two blocks and the batting and basted it with pins.
I put a fabric loop on several places of the block.
And the results. The first one didn’t result as I wish. The second is better and I like the third very much (click on the picture to see it larger).

Raining cats & dogs

The last days were a surprise. Most of our expectations for vacations were gone and the dreamed days on the beach or the open air walking must wait for better days. But I love to stay at home on raining days where I can deep sink against my stash.
Organizing my fabrics I found some cute ones which I had almost forgotten. In Portugal it’s very difficult to buy patchwork fabrics so, when I go abroad, I always take the chance to buy some yards. And when I see prints with these “tigers” I can’t resist.

women don't behave like men
I embroidered a big silk button but I thought it didn’t fit with the bag.

Leftovers
Pink, green, blue, red, black, with dots, with flowers, with stripes, we have them in all kinds of colors and prints. Stripes and more stripes are leftovers from projects we have done with pleasure and dear testimonials of the good time we spent working on them.
For those people who like scraps to throw it away is pure insanity. I like to give it a good destiny as soon as I can or I’m in danger to submerge.
From string quilts to scrap bags the limit is our imagination. I use these small stripe bags as a wrapping paper substitute. Sometimes the bag itself is as much or even more appreciated then the gift contained inside.

Me
Because I am an ordinary person I can’t find extraordinary facts in my life that could interest other people. When I saw in Pauly’s blog she had chosen me to tell eight things about me, I found myself wondering what I could say.
I’m quite perfectionist in many ways. I don’t consider this a virtue.
I am a left-hander. It caused me some troubles in my childhood but it gave me the possibility to improve self-toughting.
I’m a disorganized person. At the moment I’m trying to get better.
I have the same car for seventeen years. I will give it to a museum :) and buy another one this year.
Coffee. I don’t remember to spend a single day of my adult life without drinking it.
Olhou-me desconfiada mas acedeu.
I love to learn about crafts. I learned tatting when I was on holidays on the beach. I approached to a lady who was sitting on the sand making this beautiful lace. I asked her if she could teach me and she agreed. Next day I discovered she was a noun from Braga. I still keep the navette she gave me. I’m sure she doesn’t blog but thanks Sister Teresa anyway7) Trabalho melhor à noite.
I work better late in the evening.
You may wonder the reason o these pictures with this post. Of course I love fabrics but who doesn’t? But I looooove bags so much and I had never made one to myself. I will make one with the fabric from the second picture. The last three fabrics are Portuguese Chita I found in a store near home. There are always treasures to discover.
